As and when they become free of running jobs, Maths compute cluster nodes hosted in this server room are being moved to a new rack in a cooler part of the room to reduce the pooling of hot air behind the existing rack they are installed in.
Also, three compute nodes macomp14, macomp15 and macomp16 have each been fitted with 1 Tb scratch disks and macomp000 will also be upgraded shortly.
Finally, the sysnews documentation was extensively updated during the second half of September with new pages on the silos and calculus storage facilities while the Maths compute cluster and Torque/Maui job queueing documentation was amalgamated into a single and largely rewritten page.
